Rough Sleeper Cases

This article explains the features within HPA2 relating to case management of Rough Sleeper cases.

The Rough Sleeper Task Group

HPA2 includes features to facilitate the monitoring and management of your local Rough Sleeper cohort. These features allow you to:

  • Capture information relating to the whereabouts of potential rough sleepers, helping officers to quickly make contact and verify their status as rough sleepers
  • Capture information relating to outcomes achieved for those rough sleepers, such as facilitating access to support or health services
  • Manage Rough Sleepers both within and outside the regular Homelessness Reduction Act workflow – such as where no Homelessness Duty is owed but support can be provided via outreach.
  • Generate a report containing the information required for DELTA returns relating to Rough Sleepers



All of the above is achieved by utilising the Rough Sleeper Outreach task group - this happens automatically under most circumstances but this article also explains how to manually add these tasks to the case. 


Changing a case to be Rough Sleeper case type

HPA2 has a dedicated case type called "Rough Sleeper". Cases automatically move into this case type whenever you change the case status to "Ongoing Outreach". 


Note: You would generally only move a case to be Rough Sleeper if the HRA-related functions have been completed - such as when all duty has ended. 


When you are closing your HRA case, if you have followed the workflow correctly then a task will appear with the opportunity to change the case status - including closing the case. 


If you change the status to "Ongoing Outreach" (see below) and then complete the task, the case type changes to "Rough Sleeper".




Note: Once you have changed the case type, you may wish to re-assign the case to another user, such as your Rough Sleeper Coordinator or a similar role. To do so, follow this article.


Manually Adding the Rough Sleeper Outreach Task Group

Task Groups configured within your LocataPro system can be manually added into the workflow, including the Rough Sleeper Outreach group. To add this group to the workflow, follow the below steps:

  1. Navigate to the case you'd like to add the group to
  2. Click the "Add Group of Tasks" toolbar button
  3. Click "Rough Sleeper Outreach"
